Lead Content Editor

We are looking for a sharp, strategic, and creative Lead Content Editor to join our editorial team. This role is pivotal in driving editorial quality, delivering on audience and revenue targets, elevating storytelling standards, and ensuring consistency across our content portfolio.
You’ll report into our Editorial Director (based in Manchester) and manage a brilliant team of 3–4 content writers across the UK and Europe. You’ll also be working closely with the wider global team, with colleagues based in Australia, New Zealand, and Dubai. So collaboration across time zones is part of the mix.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee the full editorial workflow from ideation to publication across platforms.
- Lead and mentor a team of writers and freelance contributors, ensuring consistent output and professional development.
- Work closely with the Editorial Director on the department’s revenue model, including forecasting, P&L management and recruitment
- Set and maintain editorial standards, ensuring all content aligns with Supercar Blondie’s tone of voice and brand identity.
- Collaborate with other Lead Editors, Audience Editors, and Video Editors to align written content with overall creative strategy.
- Approve and refine headlines, intros, and narrative hooks to maximize user engagement and retention.
- Monitor SEO performance and work closely with the SEO and Insights teams to integrate best practices across all copy.
- Lead brainstorming and editorial planning sessions, pitching compelling story ideas that resonate with our audience.
- Ensure editorial accuracy, grammar, and factual consistency through effective review processes.
- Stay abreast of trends in digital publishing, social media, and the automotive and luxury sectors to keep our content fresh and relevant.
- Manage editorial calendars and ensure timely, high-quality publishing across all platforms.
What you’ll have:
- Proven experience as a Lead Editor, Senior Writer, or similar role in a fast-paced digital media environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong understanding of voice, tone, and digital best practices.
- Experience managing editorial teams and workflows, including assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing feedback.
- Solid knowledge of SEO principles, content analytics, and social platform performance metrics.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- A keen interest in the automotive and/or luxury lifestyle sectors.
- Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Location & Flexibility
This role can be based in the UK or anywhere in Europe, with flexible working options. You can work fully remotely or in a hybrid setup from our offices in London or Manchester.
